Juxtaposing Freedom Songs

Just like back then, the fight for freedom continues. The more we fight, the more we have to fight. Because we get to one checkpoint and only end up at another. The song I choose from the Civil Rights era is We Shall Overcome by Joan Baez. Baez is a prominent human rights activist. She isn't black but fought for freedom of all races. The song I chose from the present is K'aan's Waving Flag.

Un-American can be defined as contrary to the institutions of the United States of America; not ideal to the customs and beliefs of the US. The Amendment is a great summary of what Un-American should not be. Rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of marriage and freedom of ideas. It shouldn't be hard to define if your beliefs are strong, but then again who are we to determine what un-American is? No one should be the deciding factor. We need to criticize less and work together more. At that point the question will and can be illuminated. America is already known as the country of freedom and therefore that's what we need to continue. No one should be considered un-American but unique. However, if it comes to the point where your rights are exhausted, then this is then not un-American but unworthy and naive. We all need to come together and become more American.
