Success of Declaration of Independence

In my opinion, the things that made the declaration of independence successful were that the Constitution knew what they wanted and had goals and plan to get it. They went straight to the spurce of the problem which were the British.
 The failure however, in my opinion is that they were fighting aganist a strong opponent: the British. They the British were a difficult group to defeat.
